320 Gev Pi- On Au

A 320 GeV/c pi- beam is incident upon a Au target. Transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of the final state pi- are plotted.

Simulation Conditions

  • Geant4 version: 8.1
  • Models: QGS

Comments

  • Red points: data, Green points: QGS model, Blue points: HEP model
  • Predictions of the QGS model:
    • Pt: predictions lie for the most part within experimental error bars, although the trend is toward under-estimating with increasing Pt.
    • rapidity: predictions tend to under-estimate the data, except at the highest and lowest rapidity
  • Predictions of the HEP model:
    • Pt: predictions lie within the scatter of the data points
    • rapidity: predictions lie within the scatter of the data points. The predicted structure cannot be inferred from the data.

Summary

  • The data are not sufficiently precise to choose one model over the other.
