Tsld012

  • A (premature?) proposal:

    • Creation of a WWW data-base, containing links to web pages referring to excellent (selected) G4-based applications.
    • Need to define selection criteria and minimal requirements for such web-sites.
    • Can become reference point for downloading G4 extensions developed by experiments and users.

Tsld009

  • Consequences:

    • Need commitment of labs and institutes to shared maintenance (via MOUs ?)
    • Need for a more representative board than LCB
    • Need for a robust collaboration structure (encouraged by RD44 referees)
  • Action:

    • Open participation to the “G4 evolution” task-force for the interested GEANT4 collaborators

Tsld008

  • GEANT4 objectives after the end of RD44:

    • Distributed maintenance is attractive (are there any precedents?)
    • Analysis of requirements and setting of priorities
    • Progressive development
    • Account for interests of ALL developers of GEANT4 (~50% being non-LHC) and users

Tsld007

  • LCB Project Execution Plan

    • Maintenance:
      • Preliminary discussions in RD44 Executive Board
      • Meeting with RD44 LCB referees
      • Cannot define maintenance phase before having defined evolution and structure of the collaboration for the (near) future
      • Scenarios to be presented at LCB April session
      • Decision to be taken by mid-98 (June LCB session)

Tsld006

  • LCB Project Execution Plan

    • Physics:
      • Requirement of independent physics models from 4/4 LHC experiments
      • Clear statement for implementing this requirement via OO physics development within G4 framework, rather than via interfaces to physics packages, by 3/4 LHC experiments
      • Arguments of transparency and validation of the physics

Tsld004

  • LHCC milestones for mid-98

    • Beta-version
    • High-E and low-E physics extensions
      • generators models + low-E neutron transport
    • Physics simulation in CAD models (STEP)
    • Object persistency for geometry via RD45
    • Documentation for beta-version

Tsld002

  • LHCC RD44 status report

    • Congratulations
    • GEANT4 as acknowledged example of international collaboration between laboratories, institutes and experiments
    • Appreciation of results of Software Engineering
    • Encouragement to continue the emphasis on QA
    • User capability to plug-in physics models developed using OO technology

Tsld003

  • LHCC milestones for end-97

    • Fast Parameterisations in the GEANT4 framework
    • Demonstration of independent GUIs and Visualisation libraries using OOT
    • Object persistency for full simulation events
