High energy physics calorimetry
Recommeded: QGSP_BERT, LHEP, QGSPComparisons to test beam data of LHC experiments initially used LHEP and QGSP physics lists. Of these two, LHEP is found to be best for the shower shape, and has the best CPU preformance. QGSP slightly better predicts the resolution and e/Pion ratio. Up to release 8.2, QGSP produced the showers shorter and narrower than testbeam data; the inclusion of the quasi-elastic channel since 8.3 results in longer showers in both our simplified tests and in in comparisions to LHC test beam data.
The studies of testbeam data currently show that a cascade model is needed for a good description of hadronic showers; the QGSP_BERT physics lists improves agreement with LHC testbeam data for the longitudinal shape, the lateral shape and for resolution. This list is currently chosen by the LHC experiments ATLAS and CMS as default physics lists.

LHC neutron fluxes
The Simulation of neutron fluxes needs, in addition to the simulation of hadronic showers, a transport for low energy neutron down to thermal energies. Recommended: QGSP_BERT_HP, QGSP_BIC_HPLinear collider neutron fluxes
