Regular Items

  • Minutes of last meeting: approved
  • Review of pending actions
    • 10.4, 16.1, 18.1, 18.2, 18.7, 18.9, 19.2, 19.3 are closed.
    • 18.13 is replaced by action ?
    • 19.1, 19.4, 19.5, 19.6 are still open
    • status of remaining actions can be consulted on the web.

Report from other meetings (J.Apostolakis)

  • Collaboration board
    • Collaboration agreement still in discussion (see next point)
    • CB expects input from TSB regarding the proposed CA (see next point)
  • G4 delta review
    • Final report is expected after the final report of the Simulation RTAG.

Future Collaboration Agreement (J.Apostolakis)

  • a sub-group will be created with the following mandate
    • We convene the sub-group and request it to agree upon and

      - Provide a set of requirements for a Collaboration Agreement (CA), which
      describes
      * necessities, i.e. fundamental requirements to be satisfied by a CA,
      * questions to be answered by a CA,
using as one starting point the pros/cons drafted by the first sub-group and
inviting inputs from the members of Collaboration Board(CB), the TSB, and
      (appropriately) other active developers.

      - Build a proposal based on these requirements, and
      * examining the current MoU and CA proposal(s) to identify compatible
      elements, and
      * creating new elements to addresses and fulfill the remaining
      requirements.

In order to obtain as wide agreement as possible in the TSB and the
collaboration as a whole, this sub-group will be requested to
      - Obtain input from TSB members and developers;
      - Communicate progress regularly, including
      - Provide the draft resolutions to the TSB in a timely, regular schedule
      (suggested weekly);
      - Solicit feedback on drafts from TSB members, and at appropriate
checkpoints, from the CB and the collaboration at large.
      Potential first targets for deliverables:
      - Advanced Draft of Requirements: 5th December 2002
      - Draft of Elements of future CA: 19th December 2002
Note these appear to be very ambitious targets, and are likely to be very
challenging to achieve. However demonstrable progress is vital, and real
      time constraints exist.

Milestones Progress

  • Electromagnetic :
    • New G4Scintillator process will be part of the December release
  • Hadronic
    • 9 of the 11 milestones of hadronics were met at the time of this tsb meeting, with 1 more to be expected with the 5.0 release.
    • two new cascade tools introduced
    • Kinetic model is ready to be released. It is renamed the binary cascade.
    • update of data bases
    • development of Internal Conversion
  • Examples
    • advanced examples will be part of system testing.
  • Persistency
    • no news.

release platforms (G.Cosmo)

  • Linux: redhat 6.1 and 7.3 with gcc 2.95.2
  • Sun : cc 5.2 aand 5.3

Development progress

  • cuts per region
    • available for alpha users end January 03.

Regular Items

  • It is agreed that changes to the Run Manager are not yet decided: feedback are required before final design.
  • There will be no change before convergence of feedbacks.
  • It is agreed to build global libraries in debug mode for releases and patches.

G4 Delta Review Followup

  • V.Ivantchenkio made some suggestions:
    • physics lists could be built by type of physics instead of by particles
    • to organise a workshop on hadronic physics: experts would have the opportunity to meet experiments.
  • Category coordinators and Architecture group should give feedback on recommendation 4.7

Launching the 2003 Requirements round

  • Experiments should send their requirements before the January TSB meeting.

Next meeting

  • most probably 16 January 03.
