Sampling calorimeters
Description
The calorimeter is a box made of a given number of layers.
A layer consists of a sequence of various absorbers.
The pictures (G4) (G3)
show a calorimeter of 15 layers. Each layer is 23 mm Iron and 0.4 mm Silicium.
The incident particle is an electron of 12 GeV. Only the tracks of charged
particles are drawn.
Some results
- (Pb-Fe-Si) calorimeter : visible energy.
Geant4/Geant3/Experiment comparison
The plot is the visible energy in silicium as a function of the energy
of the incident electron.
The experimental results are from Sicapo Col. NIM A332 (85-90) 1993
- (Pb-Fe-Si) calorimeter : resolution.
Geant4/Geant3/Experiment comparison
In a slightly different setup, one plots the resolution on the visible energy
in silicium as a function of the energy of the incident electron.
The experimental results are from Sicapo Col. NIM A345 (244-249) 1994
